Events in Bucharest

May has just begun and even if the rainy days didn`t let us feel the spring yet, this month is packed with awesome events that will make your trip to Bucharest more enjoyable and make you forget about the inconveniences caused by low temperatures.

The first weekend of May is dedicated to Spotlight festival which is currently at its second edition. It started out in 2015 as a celebration for the International year of Light and the organizers (The Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Bucharest) decided to make it a tradition. It will take place from 5th to 8th of May on Victory Avenue and several other locations. During 8:30 Pm and 11:30 PM the road will lighten up and the installations will create mesmerizing stories. Don`t miss this wonderful unconventional art gallery and for more info and the detailed schedule check their website.

Moving on to the second weekend of May, more specifically on the 15th , a cool event that promotes women biking will take place in Tineretului Park. Skirtbike will bring together bike lovers especially women who like to be fancy while pedaling. Throughout the day there will be a bike parade, jazz music and picnics. The event is definitely something to check out if you want to spend a relaxing day in the park surrounded by lovely music and in a nice atmosphere. Check the Facebook event for detailed info and updates.

At the end of the month we have 2 more events lined up for you. The first one, Women on Matasari takes place on Matasari Street (as the name suggests) between 27th and 29th of May. This celebration is already at its 6th edition so it`s bound to be great. What does it mean exactly?  Well for 3 days Matasari Street will transform into a concert venue, flea market, display stand and many more. It will become an unconventional space for expression. Here is their Facebook  event.

Last but not least, from 20th of May to the 5th of June Romanian Design Week will take place. The event promotes all creative industries and puts a focus on design in all its shapes. Apart from the usual exhibitions and fairs there will also be workshops, parties and product launches. The detailed schedule isn`t out yet so make sure to follow their  page for updates. However, what is guaranteed is that you will be able to see what Romanian creativity looks like and where our designers draw their inspiration. Plus you will be able to buy unique pieces that will remind you of your stay in Bucharest.
