Rainy Days in Bucharest

Even though summer is almost here, there are a few days (like this one today) which behave like it`s autumn outside. Bad weather might spoil your mood, but we`ve prepared a few tips for you so that you can still enjoy your visit on a rainy day.

Visit the museums you thought you would never have time to

Bad weather is meant for you to stay inside. Fortunately most of the museums are located inside a building so they are the perfect place to shelter from the rain. The closest ones from the city center are the Old Court Palace and Church- which is in the heart of the old town- and Bucharest Municipal Museum. The latter is located in a 19th century palace right in the University Square and apart from its usual exhibitions it also features some temporary ones which give insights on the history of a single neighborhood ( Berceni for example).

Discover the teahouses

Visiting Bucharest on a sunny season means you will focus on outdoors activities and leave out staying inside. A rainy day is the perfect opportunity for you to see how the city does on a different season. Some of the best teahouses are Bohemia Teahouse and Infinitea. They are cozy places with a serene atmosphere where you can catch up on your reading or work on your laptop.

Get immersed in a book

The city is filled with wonderful bookstores where you can buy yourself a good book as a souvenir from Romania. One of the most beautiful is Carturesti Carousel on 55, Lipscani Street. They have a bistro at the top floor where you can have a cup of tea and if you are a movies enthusiast the basement is the place where you`ll find a multimedia gallery. Another place where you can have tea and buy a book is Humanitas on Queen Elisabeth Avenue. They also organize conferences here and lots of them are in English so you can attend one if you fancy the subject.

Think outside the box

Bucharest has plenty of alternative options for spending your time. You can try going to a shopping mall and play Laser tag of bowling of even see a movie in a cinema. Afi Palace Cotroceni is the place where you can do all this things under the same roof. If you want something more unconventional you can try an Escape room, but make sure it has English instructions and guidelines for the game. Breakout Bucharest offers all this and lets you choose the theme for your room between Star Wars, Batman, Pirates of the Caribbean and Sherlock Holmes.
